OUR COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
At Straight Arrow Farms, our hatching eggs are collected from healthy, well-nourished flocks and handled with care from the moment they're laid. We take pride in the quality of our eggs and do everything we can to set you up for a successful hatch.
ZERO GUARANTEE POLICY
Please read carefully before purchasing.
Once hatching eggs leave Straight Arrow Farms, we have no control over the conditions they are subjected to — including handling during shipping, temperature fluctuations, humidity levels, incubator settings, or the buyer's experience level. For this reason, Straight Arrow Farms offers zero guarantee on hatch rates.
By purchasing hatching eggs from us, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Hatching eggs are a perishable, living product and are sold as-is once they leave our property
- We are not responsible for poor hatch rates due to shipping stress, improper handling, or incubation errors
- No refunds or replacements will be issued for unhatched eggs
- Fertility is not guaranteed, though we take every reasonable step to ensure our flocks are actively breeding
CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
Buyer-Initiated Cancellations
If you need to cancel your hatching egg order, you must notify us at info@straightarrowfarms.ca as soon as possible. Approved cancellations will receive a 50% refund of the egg purchase price plus a full refund of shipping costs. This policy reflects the time and resources required to collect, store, and prepare eggs for your order.
Seller-Initiated Cancellations
If Straight Arrow Farms is unable to fulfill part or all of your order due to circumstances beyond our control (production issues, seasonal availability, etc.), you will be offered the choice of:
- A full credit toward your next season's order for any unfulfilled eggs, or
- A full refund for the portion of your order we are unable to fulfill
We will notify you as soon as possible if we anticipate any fulfillment issues with your order.
SHIPPING POLICY FOR HATCHING EGGS
- Eggs are packed carefully with appropriate cushioning to minimize movement and vibration
- We ship via Purolator Express only; however, we cannot control how packages are handled in transit
- Shipping delays, rough handling, and temperature extremes during transit can all negatively impact hatch rates
FAQ — Buying Hatching Eggs
Q: What is a good hatch rate?
A: Industry standard for shipped hatching eggs is typically 50%. Even under ideal conditions, not every egg will hatch — this is normal and expected, this is why there is such a discrepancy in egg prices vs live chicks.
Q: Can I pick up eggs locally instead of having them shipped?
A: Yes! Local pickup is available and is always the best option for hatch rates since eggs avoid shipping stress entirely. Contact us to arrange a pickup time.
Q: What breeds do you offer?
A: Please check our current listings or contact us directly — available breeds vary by season and flock production.
Q: How are your flocks managed?
A: Our flocks are raised on pasture with access to fresh air, natural foraging, and a balanced diet. We do not use hormones or unnecessary antibiotics. Our breeding ratios are maintained to support strong fertility.
Q: Can I get a refund if nothing hatches?
A: Unfortunately, no. As outlined in our policy above, hatch rates are affected by many factors outside our control once eggs leave our farm. We strongly encourage buyers to research proper incubation before purchasing.
